Grand Opening Day 3 Whiskey Tasting Recap at Spirit Shop of Annapolis 🥃✨

Our third day of Grand Opening celebrations at the Spirit Shop of Annapolis was a whiskey lover's paradise! On February 13th, from 4-7pm, we hosted an exceptional whiskey tasting event that featured a selection of premium whiskeys. Here's a recap of the memorable evening:

Featured Whiskeys:

🏷️ Benchmark No. 8: 

Named after the McAfee brothers who surveyed the land in the late 1700s, this rye recipe bourbon honors the storied history of the Distillery and the land it sits on.  

Tasting Notes:

- Nose: Caramel notes with a delicate stone-fruit backdrop.  

- Palate: Robust and sturdy with fine leather, dry tobacco, oak, and dried cherries.  

- Finish: Smooth and calming.

🏷️ Traveler Whiskey : 

A collaboration between Buffalo Trace Distillery and 10X Grammy Award-Winning Artist Chris Stapleton. Blend No. 40 was the chosen combination after sampling over 50 blends.  

Tasting Notes: 

- Nose: Complex aromas of vanilla, aged fruit, and buttery shortbread with caramel and oak.  

- Palate: A touch of sweetness, followed by spice, toasted nut, and oak flavors.  

- Finish: Robust, smooth

🏷️ Larceny Small Batch:  

This signature Wheated Bourbon is perfect for cocktails or on the rocks.  

Tasting Notes: 

- Color: Copper.  

- Aroma: Butterscotch and toasted oak with dried roses.  

- Taste: Soft with honey sweetness, aromatic herbs, and green tea.  

- Finish: Herbal notes, cardamom, nutmeg, white pepper, and a hint of barrel char.

🏷️ Rittenhouse BIB Straight Rye Whiskey :

Produced in the tradition of classic rye whiskeys, this rye contains a mash bill of 51% rye, 35% corn, and 14% malted barley.  

Tasting Notes: 

- Aroma and Flavor: Robust with historical roots paying homage to the original 1930's Rittenhouse Square product.

🏷️ Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream :

Handcrafted with Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon.  

Tasting Notes:

- Palate: Rich and sweet with smooth Bourbon and creamy vanilla flavor.  

- Pairing Suggestions: Enjoy chilled, on the rocks, in coffee, or as a Buffalo Float – “the adult root beer float.”
